Procedures
To change all the formulae in a column of formulae in Excel (Copy
Down)
1.
Change
the topmost cell of the column
2.
Select
the whole column, including the changed cell
3.
Press Ctrl+D
Note: copying
with Ctrl C is usually safer than other
operations (E.g. cutting, or inserting) but if the copied cell
references other
cells, rather than just containing a constant or text, then you have to
be
careful. Excel distinguishes two cases…
1.
Any row numbers which are preceded
by $ (such
as =h$7) are unchanged (E.g. =h$7 on row 7 remains =h$7 if
copied to row
8)
2.
Any row numbers not preceded by $
(such as =h7)
are increased by the same amount as the row number (E.g. =h7 on row
7
becomes =h8 on row 8).
I.e.
If a formulae uses the $ sign inappropriately, any copied cells will
not
reference other cells as intended
All
the formulae in the selected cells are then overwritten with whatever
is in the
topmost cell.
To prevent cell values appearing
Cntl+1 > Number > Custom > Type = ;;;
To eliminate macros from a workbook
Ctrl+N > Ctrl + F6 > Right click the sheet name tab for the sheet
to be cleaned of macros > Move or Copy
> To book: = Book1
> Create a copy = Yes
[OK]
Book1 > "Sheet1"
> Right click the sheet name tab for "Sheet1"
> Delete
> File > Save As > Enter a new file name,
and save the new macro-free workbook.
