Web Tricks

To separate words in a url

Do not use spaces to separate words in urls because…

1.      They are listed as %20 in Google search results, making them less readable (and may reduce Google ranking).

2.      The pasted version of the links contain %20, making them less readable.

3.      The link may fail when pasted into older browsers.

It is generally recommended to use dashes instead.

To use Google Drive files in a web site

Ensuring that the file’s share parameters are “Public on the web” by…

…right clicking the uploaded file and selecting Share… > Share… > Change = “Public on the web” [Done]

… and copying the {File Id} given under “Link to share”

Then in …

http://gdurl.com/

…enter the {File Id] into the “Paste a public Google Drive URL…” box.

Press   Create Permalink  .

… and copy the “Standard URL” shown.

Then, in your web page, insert …

<img src="{Standard URL}” >

(Note that pasting the Google’s link in directly and gdriverurl.com did not work for me, and https://docs.google.com/uc?export=download&id={fileId} failed to display pictures in Google Chrome, and one of two of my installations of IE.)
